September was a busy month for Christian Dior French luxury house with the presentation of the spring-summer 2018 ready-to-wear collection directed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, house’s first-ever female director, at Paris Fashion Week two days ago and the launch of two new Rouge Dior innovations that once again demonstrate the expertise of Dior as a “colour creator”.
Since its creation in 1953, Rouge Dior has never stopped moving, accompanying women, fashions, and society, with a single abiding feature: the pleasure and power of colour. Last year, the famous lipstick embraced feel-good femininity and coupled its cosmetic innovation with an extraordinary chromatic revolution. Today, Rouge Dior is reinventing itself again, exploring new techniques with two ways to play with your smile: Dior Rouge Liquid Lip Stain and Double Rouge.
Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain is a long-wear liquid lipstick with an innovative single-dose applicator wand. This is the first luscious ink with intense couture colour and multiple effects. “It’s a very interesting formula. The texture is so light, it really feels like you’re applying a gloss, but watch out, because the result is powerful! It dresses the lips with a very feminine gesture.” said Peter Philips, Creative and Image Director for Dior Makeup.
Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain saturates lips with comfort and coverage, delivering up to 12 hours of wear thanks to a combination of expert blend of mineral wax, moisturizing oils, and setting agents make for a seamless, second-skin finish in one swipe. I’ve been testing Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain for one week and I can guaranty that it survives to my breakfast smoothie, lunch salad, snacks and water refreshments throughout the day without the need to apply any retouches.
With a reservoir applicator that takes up and deposits just the right amount of product, its fine tip is the perfect tool for outlining the lips with precision. For bolder colour and longer wear, start by outlining the lips and filling them in with Dior Universal Contour Lipliner as a base. Then apply Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain directly on the mouth using the fine and precise applicator. Rouge Dior Liquid Lip Stain comes in three vibrant finishes of matte, metal, and satin that deliver highly pigmented and long-wearing color. My favorite color is Savage Matte 797, this fuchsia pairs well with my skin tone.
Inspired by professional techniques, Rouge Dior Double Rouge combines two makeup trends: matte and metal. In a single application, Rouge Dior Double Rouge produces an ombré effect with a highly pigmented matte contour and a light catching metal heart. “The hard part was identifying the right combinations of a darker, matte outer ring and a lighter, iridescent metallic core, which highlights the curve of the lip and therefore simulates volume.” explains Peter Philips.
For Rouge Dior Double Rouge, Peter Philips creates 4 colour families: fun and sophisticated reds, cheerful corals, electric purple pinks, and nudes that flatter every style of beauty. For bolder colour, start by applying Fix It 2-in-1 in the center of the lips. Fix It 2-in-1 is both a primer and a concealer (face, eyes, and lips) which is great to create a perfect base and amplify the lipstick effect. Then use Rouge Dior Double Rouge directly on the lips, by first using the contour starting from the corners then to the center of the lips to define them perfectly. For the final touch, use the stick in one stroke to achieve the double matte and metal effect. Rouge Dior Double Rouge is also a long-wear lipstick (at least 6 hours), perfect for a date or afterwork cocktail. Let me tell you that I’m really obsessed by Matte Metal 999, a tone-on-tone true red with a subtle ombré effect.
