Kozu: new Asian brasserie in Plateau Mont-Royal

Kozu Asian brasserie

Recently opened in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal, Kozu is an Asian inspired brasserie located on Rachel East. This 2500 square foot venue has been designed by the young talented Amlyne Phillips (Kampai Garden, Jatoba, Mayfair) based of chic Scandinavian chalet. The design features noble materials such as marble bar, as well as custom lighting and wallpaper.

The restaurant offers a Chinese and Japanese inspired menu elaborated by Chef Olivier Vigneault (Jatoba) who proposes a unique foodie experience. The sharing style menu showcases modern techniques and traditional flavors from Asian cuisine. Moreover, almost 50% of the menu is vegan and gluten free: Gao Choi dumplings, grilled Maitake mushrooms, roasted cauliflower and much more.

Montreal’s leading mixologists Lawrence Picard has created an exotic cocktail list using Asian plants such as wasabi, turmeric and Sichuan pepper. During the media opening night, we were invited to taste the Emperor Mule cocktail made of Hennessy, sake, lime, ginger, coriander and kaffir lime leaves….delicious!

“We hope to fill the void in the Plateau for a quality dining experience that is festive yet refined. We are extremely proud of the beautiful melting pot of all the different talents involved from the chef, design, management and creative direction (…)” said young entrepreneur PJ Goupil (A5 Hospitality).

Skin Treatments at Dermalogica Montreal

Dermalogica Montreal Store

Founded in 1986 by Jane Wurwand, Dermalogica products are free of common irritants and ingredients that could cause breakouts such as mineral oil, artificial colors and fragrances. In addition to Face Mapping at Skin Bar (5 minutes, complimentary),  Dermalogica store located in Montreal Old Port offers 3 treatments: MicroZone Treatments, IonActive Power Treatment and Dermalogica Skin Treatment.

The Dermalogica MicroZone Treatment addresses the top skin concerns in a quick and efficient mode. During the  20 minutes appointment, the skin therapist analyzes your skin, then performs a targeted treatment using exclusive techniques such as the Dermalogica Double Cleanse routine.

The IonActive Power Treatment combines thermal activity and the latest treatment-room technology to optimize product penetration into your skin. This 45 minutes treatment is composed from up to six professional formulas and two gels. Based on an initial Face Mapping, the skin therapist will assess which combination of formulas and gels is ideal for your skin.

Dermalogica Montreal Store – Private room

One week ago, I experienced for the first time the Dermalogica Skin Treatment. As a new client, I was invited to fill a form about my medical conditions then the appointment has started with a discussion about my skin care routine followed by the Face Mapping to analyze my skin in depth and to design the appropriate treatment.

This 60 minutes treatment is totally customized to your skin’s needs and it’s different every single time depending your skin condition. That being said, each treatment includes Dermalogica Double Cleanse routine, exfoliation, high frequency or Galvanic modalities, extractions, mask, toner and skin protection.

After the treatment, the skin therapist presents and explains the customized skin health prescription. On my Face Mapping, the skin therapist identified dehydrated and hyperpigmented zones. For my concerns, she prescribed the following products: Special Cleansing Gel, Daily Microfoliant and PowerBright TRx (C-12 Pure Bright Serum, Pure Light and Pure Night).

If you prefer to explore the turquoise water, there are daily excursions aboard catamarans where you can relax and snorkel. Find more pictures of those excursions on our instagram account.

After emotionally charged days, what’s better than laying out on white sand beaches, while gazing at crystal-clear sea waters and recovering with drinking delicious cocktails? We chose to book an all-inclusive package with Air Transat which included plane tickets and hotel stay at Mercure Playa de Oro 4 stars resort located at Varadero to conciliate comfort and adventures.

With several locations in the countryside, only minutes away from city, Strøm Spa Nordique offers a wide range of services including massotherapy, beauty treatments, healthy dining and culinary tasting workshops.

I used to visit Île-des-Soeurs location because it’s close from downtown Montreal (less than 15 minutes) and easily accessible even during rush hours. The site has a moderate size compared to other spas that I visited which tends to create a pleasant intimate atmosphere. Moreover, the passionate team of employees is very professional, cares about your well-being and makes your expectations a priority.
