Sprunch: Spa and Brunch at Le Saint-Jude Montreal

Le Saint-Jude Gym & Spa

Located in a beautiful, newly renovated church, Le Saint-Jude is a unique concept combining gym training and the benefits of a Nordic spa in a relaxed atmosphere. Nordic bath and sunken hot tubs are on the rooftop terrace while dry and wet saunas are accessible by the indoor relaxation lounge at the same floor.

For those who want to reach a higher level of well-being, a dedicated team of massotherapists will take care of every inch of your body!

Sprunch À La Française – Les Brunchs de Mathieu

To offer wellness and gourmet pleasures all in one, Le Saint-Jude launches Le Sprunch (Spa + Brunch) featuring Les Brunchs de Mathieu. How it works? You enjoy the benefits of the spa then you choose between À la Française or Santé au St-Jude brunch box.

During the launch event last week, I opted for À la Française brunch box which is vegetarian. The box is composed of 1 fresh orange juice, 1 vegetables Quiche (a must try!!), 1 pastry (croissant or chocolatine) and 2 choices of sweet treats (Kinder Tiramisu, French Tatin pie, 2 Crêpes with sugar or 3 Madeleines). And guess what? Pastries are made by Croissant Croissant one of the best bakery in town!

I was really impressed by how fresh each items contained in the box were. Most of them are prepared the same day by Chef Mathieu right before delivery. Note that Le Sprunch is offered only on weekends at the launch price of 99$ until April 30th (regular price: 126$), hurry up!

Centaur Theatre: Clybourne Park

Centaur Theatre Company presents the Pulitzer Prize for Drama-winning play, Clybourne Park, written by American playwright, Bruce Norris, until April 30th. A biting satire about property, privilege and provocation… What happens when the dream explodes?

Travel back in time to Chicago, 1959, to an all-white, middle class neighborhood. Bev and Russ have sold their house to a black family, upsetting the ‘social order’ and creating havoc among their friends.

Act Two fast-forwards to 2009 where the tables are turned as a white couple attempts to buy and tear down the very same house to erect a more pretentious home, now in an all-black community, triggering identical issues fifty years later.

Clybourne Park looks at prejudice, property, and political correctness, then and now, in a blisteringly funny and timely satire.

Next shows: Matinées (1:00 pm & 2:00 pm) and Evenings (8:00 pm) until April 30th.

Inspired by both classic and modern dishes, chefs Oussama Ben Tanfous and Simon Laborde launch a new brunch menu available at all Les Enfants Terribles restaurant locations. At this occasion, I had the pleasure of tasting the dishes added to the brunch menu last week at Ile-des-Soeurs location in the presence of founder Francine Brûlé.

Chefs well understand that food habits are changing and this is the reason why they decided to adapt the brunch menu to this new reality. “We cook with the best products, fresh and local, and a small rebellious sideOur dishes represent what we are: Les Enfants Terribles, a Montrealer Brasserie “said Ben and Simon.

Among the new dishes, we have choice of diverse flavor such as crab BLT, merguez Chakchouka, duck toast and various vegetarian plates. Here is my top 3…

As revealed on my instagram account, my favorite from this new brunch menu is Blueberry Donuts! If you want to add a sweet note to your brunch, Blueberry Donuts are perfect for sharing. Donuts are flavored with ginger and topped with blueberries sauce, vanilla ice cream, Chantilly and mint.

L’Avenue Saint-Henri – Photo Credit: Patricia Brochu

It’s official, well known brunch restaurant L’Avenue just opens its second location in Saint-Henri neighborhood on Notre-Dame Street West at walking distance from Lachine Canal and Atwater market.

The new location preserves L’Avenue original signature with a decoration mixed of urban influences designed by Montrealer artist Alex Scaner and vintage furniture style (don’t miss to visit the bathrooms….).

Chef Alexandre Loiseau – Photo Credit: Patricia Brochu

To refresh the menu, Chef Alexandre Loiseau has concocted new dishes inspired by local ingredients which I have been invited to try in exclusivity a week ago. Both fancy and hefty, these new dishes confirm that brunch is a meal where creativity has no limit. And guess what? New vegetarian and gluten free items have been also added!

How To Revive Your Hair This Spring?

Live Clean Shampoo and Conditioner (price: 6,26$)

We all have a hair care routine and this routine should evolve as season changes to keep our hair healthy. I use Live Clean shampoo and conditioner for years because those vegan eco-friendly Canadian products made with certified organic botanical (more than 96%) and biodegradable ingredients deliver wonderful results. Live Clean hair care products do not contain: sulfate, petroleum, DEA, paraben, silicone, phthalate and phosphate. Based on my shopping experience, Live Clean brand is available at Walmart, Pharmaprix and Jean-Coutu.

To transition from Winter to Spring, I received in early March Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Pre-Wash Protein Treatment and Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask. Easily integrated to my routine, I use them twice a week for better results.

Madam C.J. Walker Pre-Wash Protein Treatment (Price: 32$ US)

Sarah Breedlove, founder of Madam C.J. Walker Manufacturing Company, is one of the twentieth century’s most successful self-made African American women entrepreneurs and her legacy inspired Sundial Brands to launch in 2016 a new brand named Madam C.J. Walker Beauty Culture that is sold exclusively at Sephora (online and stores).

The Pre-Wash Protein Treatment really helps fortify and protect against breakage. Suitable for all hair types, this treatment penetrates deeply to restore damages caused by chemical treatments, hair styling or environmental factors.

Made with certified organic and fair trade ingredients, this cruelty free product is easy to use. Before application, I spray my hair with warm water then I apply a generous amount of Pre-Wash Protein Treatment on hair and scalp by paying attention to mid lengths and ends (where breakage happens most of the time!). I put a shower cap to create natural heat then after 15-30 minutes I rinse with warm water and cleanse with Live Clean shampoo and conditioner.

Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask (Price: 43$)

After cleansing, I apply a generous amount of Pai-Shau Supreme Revitalizing Mask on wet hair from mid lengths to ends, comb through and rinse well after 5-10 minutes. Suitable for all hair types, this mask hydrates and adds softness.

Pai-Shau products are made in Canada using Signature Tea Complex, a mix of African Red Bush (known as Rooibos), White, Black, Pu-erh and Japanese Matcha Green Teas. This mix provides rejuvenating properties that strengthen, nourish and protect the hair. Moreover, Pai-Shau products are eco-friendly, vegan, paraben free, gluten free, sulfate free, sodium chloride free and color safe. Sold only in professional environments, products are available at Pai-Shau website, fine beauty salons and professional distributors such as Capilex Beauté.

Happy Spring !!

Apply Teint Idole Ultra Makeup Stick with a brush, makeup sponge, your fingers, or directly onto the skin, depending on your preferred method of application.
• When using a foundation brush, lightly feather the product, starting at the center of your face or where you see the most discoloration, and blend outward. Or, apply using fingers, blending with a cross-hatch pattern.
• As a concealer, apply where needed to spot treat and conceal imperfections. Using your finger or a brush, apply in a stippling motion for best results.
• To contour, pick a shade 2-3 shades darker than your base complexion, then apply and blend to sculpt and define your features.

5) Skin benefits
