Cannes Film Festival: Opening Cocktail at Mouton Cadet Wine Bar in Montreal

Mouton Cadet Wine Bar 2017 – Cannes Film Festival

For this 2017 edition of Cannes Film Festival, Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA opened the doors of Mouton Cadet Wine Bar. Until May 28th, the terrace of the Palais des Festivals will be once again the meeting place for the cinema and also the place to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the festival, in a decor entirely conceived and decorated by the French decorative artist Mathias Kiss.

At this occasion, restaurant Le Richmond located in Montreal Griffintown neighborhood transformed its terrace by using the decor of Mouton Cadet Wine Bar to celebrate the opening of the Cannes Film Festival.

Tartarefest: Vote For The Best Tartare of Montreal

Tartarefest 2017

Restomania launched the 4th edition of Tartarefest at Rosewood restaurant on May 19th. More than 20 restaurants have created tasty tartares for the occasion, and you are invited to vote for the best tartare of Montreal by May 28th.

Tartarefest offers the chance to enjoy a gourmet fine dining experience at participating restaurants without the hefty bill: a tartare plus drink from 10$. Among the restaurants competing in the Tartarefest, ĂŠat and Caribou Gourmand are innovating this year by offering vegetarian tartares.

Vegetarian Tartar – Caribou Gourmand

Vegetarian Tartar – Caribou Gourmand

At the restaurant Caribou Gourmand, the vegetarian tartare, made of fennel, apples, goat’s cheese, walnut, honey and lemon, comes with a generous portion of homemade French fries. I recommend a glass of Pinot Gris Leon Beyer (2014, France) to accompany the vegetarian tartare. As a foodie, I always have space for starter and dessert: here are my choices…

Quebec Cheese Plate – Caribou Gourmand

Blueberry Crumble – Caribou Gourmand

As you can guess, my vote goes to Caribou Gourmand for this 4th edition of Tartarefest. During the final day on May 27th, the Best Tartare of Montreal 2017 will be announced at the Fish Market La Mer. All the profits of this day will be donated to the Douglas Foundation (Mental Health University Institute). Visit Tartarefest to vote and Restomania to reserve your tickets. Enjoy 🙂

In addition, a wide range of body and face treatments are available upon appointment to increase the benefits of thermotherapy. Also, you can enjoy healthy meals at Spa le Finlandais Bistro at any time during your visit.

Spa Le Finlandais – Bistro & Lounge

In order to make your visit unique, Spa le Finlandais now offers the Temazcal Experience. It is an immersion in one of the oldest Aztec ceremonies of purification of body and mind. The ritual is inspired by the 4 elements: water, earth, air and fire.

The Temazcal Experience is a deep moment of relaxation with tribal songs and wall projections that promote meditation. During the session, the center of the room releases heat and steam to allow the body to open the pores and relax muscle tension. Each session lasts 15 minutes and can accommodate a maximum of 12 people. Overall, the Temazcal Experience can be define as a different way to enjoy a sauna with equivalent benefits for the body.

During our visit at Spa Le Finlandais, we had an incredible journey into rest and peacefulness. Whatever the season, your body will thank you and give it back to you.

Club Soya: New Sushi Restaurant in Montreal

Club Soya – Photo credit: Myriam Frenette

Club Soya is the newest restaurant in Montreal Quartier des Spectacles inspired by Japanese, Hawaiian and local cuisines. Opened few months ago, Club Soya invited us earlier this week to taste its menu and to celebrate the opening of its terrace.

Elaborated by Chef Geneviève Everell (Sushi à la maison), menu features sushi, maki-burrito, poke bowls and salads. Recipes change with seasons depending ingredients availability at local markets. During the launch event, we chose vegan poke bowls and vegetarian sushi.

While waiting to receive its alcohol license, Club Soya offers a menu of mocktails signed by Étienne Bernard (founder of Bar Co) and well harmonized with plates served at the restaurant.

Club Soya has a small capacity (perfect if you are looking for intimacy) but you can still enjoy the menu by ordering on Foodora  and be delivered right to your door.

VOLTA by Cirque du Soleil

VOLTA Cirque du Soleil – Photo credit: Patrice Lamoureux

Volta is the recent show presented by Cirque du Soleil in world premiere under the Big Top in Montreal’s Old Port until July 23rd. Directed by Bastien Alexandre, Volta is a modern story about the freedom to choose and being true to oneself.

Inspired in part by the adventurous spirit of action sports culture, Cirque du Soleil features for the first time acrobatic BMX and Parkour driven by mesmerizing melodies. While celebrating freedom as a movement, Volta delivers strong messages about modern society, acceptance and self love.

I was particularly impressed by the elegance expressed by this young acrobat during her solo performance. In both acts, costumes designed by Zaldy Goco were stunning and colorful in reference of street arts and characters identity. Moreover, performers give an amazing show on stage and bring this magical touch we love about Cirque du Soleil.

Enhance your experience at Cirque du Soleil with all-inclusive VIP package to plunge into Volta universe and get the best seats for the show. With exclusive access to Volta private lounge, enjoy hors d’oeuvres catered by Agnus Dei and refreshments at open bar. Lounge opens 1 hour prior the show and welcomes you also during the intermission.

Hydrogel Face Mask by Collagena

If you follow beauty brand or influencer accounts on Instagram, chances are you have already watched videos featuring hydrogel face masks! Beyond their fancy look, hydrogel face masks are practical and efficient.

I have recently tried Collagena Hydranutrition and DermaLight Hydrogel Face Masks. Patented under the name Crystal Innovation©, several years of research and development were required to create and test the masks. Made with water, nourishing serum and active principles, Collagena Hydrogel Face Masks have a high degree of flexibility and are naturally compatible with skin tissue.

Collagena DermaLight – Pack of 5 from 50$

Collagena DermaLight Whitening Face Mask contains a base of hydrogel with added marine collagen, hyaluronic acid and active anti-spot ingredients quickly absorbed into the skin to reduce dark spots and brighten your complexion.

As mentioned in previous beauty posts, dark skins are frequently concerned by hyperpigmentation and uneven skin tone. On a recent trip to Libreville (Gabon) for a friend wedding, I completed my skin care routine by applying the mask for 20 minutes before bed time and the next morning my skin was glowing. It allowed me to use less makeup and it was more comfortable due to the weather (30°C, 84% HR).

Note that the mask does not stain, is not oily and does not require rinsing as it leaves no trace on the skin when removed. Whether you have normal, dry, combination or oily skin, you will find the perfect Collagena Hydrogel Face Mask for your skin type.

Collagena Hydrogel Face Masks (DermaLift only) are available at Supermarché Santé Avril, Marché Tau, Aliments Pleine Lune and specialized natural health shops across Quebec. Visit Collagena Canada page on Facebook for more infos.
